#RecordBreaker What has Tottenham star
Harry Kane done that Owen, Torres, Drogba, Rooney, Aguero and Ronaldo failed to
do?
HARRY KANE has been enjoying another
spectacular season for Tottenham, netting goal after goal as Spurs chase down
an incredible Premier League title.
And while Maurcio Pochettino’s men may be
seven points adrift of Leicester in second place, you can’t blame Kane for them
not being top.
After all, he’s netted 22 goals from his 32
games this season — three more than the Foxes’ Jamie Vardy in second place —
bettering his already incredible tally of 21 from last term. His red-hot form
in 2016 particularly have seen him hit the 20-goal mark in both of his full
Premier League seasons with spurs.
Impressive to the say the least, but consider
this...
The Prem has been graced with some
astonishing forwards over the years — from Michael Owen to Sergio Aguero. That
pair — along with league legends Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney
and Fernando Torres — NEVER managed back-to-back seasons with 20+ goals.
Those goal-machines lit up the league
during their days in the top flight — some of which have been, or were, around
for a decade.
And they never managed to do what English
striker Kane has done in just TWO seasons.Spurs man Kane has what any top
striker needs — an eye for goal and ability to pull the ball exactly where he
wants it.
His goal against Liverpool last weekend
proved that as, with his back to goal and from an unlikely angle, he swivelled
and rifled the ball into the far corner, without so much as a glance at the
goal.
His strike for England against Germany,
where he utilised the Cruyff turn and fired the ball past the best goalkeeper
on the planet, Manuel Meyer. His finish against Arsenal in the heated North
London derby where he curled an unstoppable shot past David Ospina...
They all show that Kane — doubted by so
many, even now — has the potential to become arguably one of the greatest
strikers in Premier League history.
The Tottenham and England ace will next
turn his eye to Kevin Phillips’ record as he bids to be the first English
forward to break the 30-goal barrier since the Sunderland man back in
1999-2000.
