Lobatan!! #EkitiGate: We rigged Ekiti state 2014 election- PDP secretary in Ekiti state, Tope Aluko says

PDP Secretary in Ekiti state, Tope Aluko, this evening made some strong allegations regarding the 2014 Governorship election in Ekiti state that saw Ayo Fayose emerge as governor.

Tope was a guest on Channels TV's Politics Today. Looks like he wanted to be Chief of Staff to the Governor and he didn't get the position. He made quite alot of accusations. See more of the things he said as tweeted by Channels TV's Kayode Akintemi...

Creating two million jobs with ICT

The Federal Government has repeatedly told us that we are in for very difficult times. For a large percentage of our youths and graduates, this is no good news because quite a number of them are either unemployed or underemployed.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, out of a total youth labour force of 36,380,320 (representing 48 per cent of total labour force in Nigeria of 75.9 million), a total of 13,658,065 of them were either unemployed or underemployed in the third quarter of 2015.
This points to the fact that Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb and we need to stem the unemployment tide fast by getting our youths and young graduates busy and engaged. As someone who literally lives and breathes technology, the key question I have asked myself is: “How can we use technology to reduce unemployment especially by taking advantage of freelancing and online jobs?”
As a result of my concern, I was excited when I received the invitation of the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, who, in trying to chart a road map for the sector, invited ICT stakeholders from every nook and cranny of the country to the maiden retreat of the ministry, tagged Repositioning the Communications Sector as a Key Driver of the Nigerian Economy, held at the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Oyo State.

"it was not an easy decision to take, because the allure of power and the worries about what would become of you after leaving office constitute an irresistible force." - GEJ

And I like this man without being president, seem to be a very good man... I think he had very crazy people around him then. ThankGod he broke the chains.

On the 28th of March, 2015, after a tension filled presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the new president of Nigeria and Goodluck Jonathan conceded victory to his successor. In a dinner organised in his honour in Geneva, Switzerland last week by Cercle Diplomatique, Jonathan poured out his heart concerning a lot of issues ranging from his foray into politics, Nigeria's well being and why he conceded to President Buhari immediately after the election. He talked about why he made that  historic telephone to congratulate Buhari even when the results were still being tallied.

His full statement during the dinner has just been released and its very revealing! Read it after the cut...

2016 budget: NASS moves against Aso Rock

LAWMAKERS in the National Assembly are said to be preparing a huge shock for the presidency as far as the final copy of the 2016 budget is concerned.

The lawmakers in the two chambers committed the budget to committee assignments last week after passing the document through the second reading.

Investigations at the National Assembly, however, confirmed that lawmakers are unhappy that they have been made to bear the brunt of all the ills that go with budgetary allocations year after year.

For instance, some of the lawmakers argued that whereas every sector of the budget in the 2016 estimates recorded between 10 and 30 percent increase, the budget of the National Assembly took a downward plunge from N130 billion in 2015 to N115 billion.

The lawmakers are also angry that while the National Assembly has been granted zero capital allocations in 2016, that of the Presidency rose from N8.3 billion and N8.9 billion in 2014 and 2015 to N19.1 billion in 2016.

Chai!! Okonjo-Iweala Chooses Personal Attacks To Cover Up Corruption, Femi Falana Says

Femi Falana
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has expressed concern that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s former Finance Minister & Coordinating Minister for the Economy, this week chose the path of a scurrilous personal attack on him for requesting the ICC to investigate the crimes against humanity committed by some former public officers.
In a letter to the Special Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Falana had called for the trial of past and current Nigerian officials, military and civilian, indicted in the investigation of the diversion of billions of dollars meant for purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram.
In the letter, he had said, “The failure of a former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to prevent widespread and systematic corruption including the re-looting of the Abacha loot amounts to complicity under the Rome Statute, and therefore fits the legal requirements of a crime against humanity.”

Yes we need this-B hari seeks stiffer penalty for money launderers

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday introduced two bills to the National Assembly to strengthen the war against money laundering.
The bills were titled, “The Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2016” and “The Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, 2016.”
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, read the letter containing the bills at plenary on Wednesday while at the House of Representatives, the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, read Buhari’s letter conveying the bills to members.
Buhari in the letter stated that the first bill sought to repeal the existing Money Laundering Act, which was enacted in 2011 to provide for stiffer penalty for money launderers to discourage the illegal act.
On the second bill, the President explained that its aim was to make provisions that would enable Nigeria to seek international assistance in recovering looted funds.

#Arms Deal: Supporters, Friends Abandon Metuh In Court, this is not nice at all oo

In what appeared to be a dramatic turn of events at the Federal High Court Abuja, the typically large crowd of political supporters and associates of the embattled Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, were conspicuously absent.
The scene was in stark contrast to the large number of his supporters who have previously gathered in front of the court. Even his entourage of political associates, who typically accompany Mr. Metuh to the court, were conspicuously absent.

Cradinal Okogie spot on Buhari, says "What sort of change is the President talking about?"

Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, yesterday released a statement criticizing the Buhari-led government. In the statement which was signed by the Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, Cardinal Okogie criticized Buhari for failing to heed court injunctions that granted both Dasuki and Pro-Biafra group leader, Nnamdi Kanu, bail. The respected religious leader asked what sort of "Change" is the President talking about when such acts of judicial disobedience is now the order of the day.

According to Okogie, the belief of many Nigerians is that the government is turning the nation into a police state comprising of the President, the EFCC and the DSS. He alleged that governors, who arm-twisted Okonjo-Iweala into signing reserves held by Central Bank, are today ministers in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. #Lobatan!! Metuh gave me $2m cash to invest – Witness

Dont know how true is this but accrding to Punch newspaper

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday opened its case with two witnesses against the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, in the charges of money laundering involving the sum of N400m which he allegedly collected from the Office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014.
The trial commenced before a Federal High Court in Abuja after the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, overruled objection by Metuh’s lead counsel, Mr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) to adjourn the trial.
Ikpeazu also informed the judge on Monday that since Metuh had been unable to meet the bail conditions granted him on January 16, the defence had filed an application for variation of the terms.
He urged the court to adjourn the proceedings as the inability of his client to meet the bail conditions had adverse effect on his preparation for the defence.
The prosecution led by Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, opposed the application for adjournment and his objection was upheld by the judge.

The Thing At Dambazau’s Feet Is You! By Pius Adesanmi

Nigerian, you have by now seen a viral video of Nigeria’s interior Minister, Abdulrahman Dambazau, turning “a DSS officer” into a sobata during a public function. If you do not know who or what a sobata is, it means you are too young and you came to adulthood on Facebook and Twitter. Sobata was the ambulant Ghanaian shoemaker, shoe repairer, or shoe shiner who took care of my “back to school” bata shoes during my primary and secondary school days.  If you were an ajebutter whose hand writing was cursive, you called those shoes “cortiner”. A Ghanaian sobata is a significant element in the social history of Nigeria in the 1970s and the 1980s.

Chai!!! 2016 budget deficit may increase to N3tr – Finance Minister

Kemi-Adeosun
The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun has enunciated the economic strategy of the Buhari administration, even as she explained that the 2016 Budget deficit may be increased from the current N2.2 trillion in the draft document before the National Assembly, to N3 trillion, should the price of crude oil continue to fall.
The Minister, in an essay sent to the media, said even if the prices of oil fall further, the federal government will not reduce spending on infrastructure i.e. Transport, Roads, Housing and Power. In the essay, entitled “Nigeria’s economy: The road to recovery”, the Minister said: “Our deficit will expand by N0.8trn to N3trn, which will be 3per cent of GDP. This is still within the comfort zone for the international rating agencies.” She also shed light on the economic strategy of the Buhari administration which she said is built on four pillars.

Baba we would wait!! ARMS PROBE: I’ll open up next week, says Falae

Olu Falae
NATIONAL Chairman of  Social Democratic Party, SDP, Chief Olu Falae, yesterday, said he has fixed next week to adequately address his alleged involvement in the ongoing arms deal scandal involving the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd).
This came as he insisted that the alleged N100 million linking with with the former NSA was given him by former Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying he had never communicated with the former security chief since 1987,when he was Secretary to the Federal Government while the latter held sway as the Aide-de-Camp, ADC to then military president, General Ibrahim Babangida.

#Lobatan!! $2.1bn Arms probe: EFCC slams fresh charges against Olisa Metuh

ABUJA — THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, on a fresh two-count-charge of destroying the evidence against him.
Metuh, who was yesterday, docked before an Abuja High Court sitting at Maitama on a two-count charge bordering on his alleged destruction of evidence against him, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Metuh was for the second time brought to court in handcuffs.
This happened just as the trial of embattled former National Security Adviser, NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) on a 19-count-charge turned dramatic, yesterday, at the Abuja High Court sitting at Maitama as the trial judge stood down trial for two hours, insisting that he must be produced in court as required by law before he could continue with the proceedings.

#CapacityBuiding: Ten Tips for Building Stronger Networks in Work and Life- How to connect to the people who matter.

Most people understand that to be successful, they need to network. But actually going out and doing it is another matter. People "are daunted by the task and believe it requires inauthentic, uncomfortable behavior and is an activity that is inconsistent with focusing on job performance," says Jeffrey Pfeffer, a Stanford professor of organizational behavior, who covers the subject of networking as part of his Paths to Power elective course. Too often, he says, people view networking "as something that 'is not them' or that they could not see themselves doing."
Too often people view networking as something that ‘is not them’ or they could not see themselves doing.
But in a new e-book coauthored with Ross Walker, a 2005 graduate of Stanford's MBA program, they argue that networking ability is not just important for career success — "it is also crucial for getting things accomplished and making change inside organizations in both the public and private sector."

Inside Dambazau’s shoes By Reuben Abati

“I really don’t see what the hoopla is all about”
“Me too”
“I think many of our people just like to talk about shoes. For five years, Nigerians kept talking about how former President Goodluck Jonathan had no shoes as a child.”

Now PDP has spoken on the Handcuffing of Metuh

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in totality the brazen display of authoritarianism demonstrated by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC Government in handcuffing its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh even when the court is yet to hear his case.
This development which unexpectedly elicited widespread public outcry clearly betrays an extra-judicial, top political witch-hunt policy of the APC, carefully designed to humiliate, embarrass and portray PDP leaders as common criminals and set the stage to cow and decimate opposition and perceived foes of the government.

The question remains, if not to mortify, dehumanize and break our National Publicity Secretary, who has been very vocal against the APC administration, and of course to send a signal to others critical of the government, what else would have informed the decision to produce him in court in handcuffs, even when his case does not border on security threat?

Ahhh, Lobatan!! PDP national officers ask Mohammed, Metuh, Secondus to step down

There appears to be a fresh round of crisis in Nigeria’s major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, with some elected national officers calling on the acting chairman of the board of trustees, Bello Mohammed and the national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, to step down from their offices.
The call, which was made in a statement signed by four of the national officers, which they also said represented the views of all deputy national officers and some members of the National Executive Committee of the party, was sequel to the ongoing trial of Messrs. Mohammed and Metuh over corruption allegations.
Messrs Metuh and Mohammed are being tried for receiving monies from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, out of the $2.1 billion meant for arms procurement but which was diverted to political spending.
The statement, made available to PEMIUM TIMES on Monday, was signed by Dennis Alonge-Niyi, the deputy national youth leader; Bashir Maidugu, the deputy national legal adviser; Okey Nnaedozie, the deputy national organizing secretary and Abdullahi Jalo, the deputy national publicity secretary.
The national officers called on all relevant members and organs of the party to rescue it “from fortune hunters who have hijacked its very soul.”
They said, “We hereby strongly dissociate the Peoples Democratic Party from the ongoing trials of Dr. Bello Halliru Mohammed ( Acting Chairman of Board of Trustees) and Chief Olisa Metuh ( National Publicity Secretary) on various charges anti graft agencies.
“They are said to have received funds using accounts of their private companies without the knowledge and instructions of any organ of the party. All those mentioned in the ongoing corruption trial are, therefore, on their own and the party was not involved financially or in anyway with the office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, or any organ of the federal government in the last regime

#Relationship: Crush that MAN, Girl! By Durodola Temitope

Can someone save this beautiful soul?

She watches a movie, she sees her story, her very own life experiences staring hard at her face,  piercing her heart  as deep as a lion claws on it's prey. I hear the laughter of everyone in the living room but I couldn't even see the light that her smiles usually brings. Her eyes is heavy with tears, her soul couldn't find joy in anything. I wish I could help, her siblings watch her drown in her insecurities. She doesn't want to be like this, only if she could save herself.  Can she?

Exactly at 22:00GMT, she retired under her white sheets with her head underneath and oh my- this poor silky foam meant for her head balance has suddenly become a shelter for tears. Yea.. Tonight is not going to be different, it still gonna be wet.

Ways of REVIEWING the year 2015

We have entered a new week of 2016. The best way to use it, in my opinion, is to review your year 2015 and prepare yourself for this new year. That way you will have a great start in 2016.
Here are five ways to review your year:
1. Review your life map.
Your life map contains the big picture of your life. It can help you see the overall direction of your life.
Check how your life has been throughout the years including 2015. Is your life moving in the right direction? Did you get distracted along the way? How would you project your life’s direction into 2016?

30 Creative Ways to Increase your Mental Capacity

Its a new year, it is important to find ways to increase your productivity this new year and to increase productivity we must increase capacity.
If you want to grow in life, increasing your mental capacity is a must. By increasing your mental capacity, you will be able to handle more things and assume larger responsibilities.
It’s just like your physical capability to lift heavier and heavier weight in weight training. People with greater physical capability will be able to lift heavier weight effortlessly while those with less capability will tire themselves out or even not be able to lift it at all. So just like you should train your muscles to increase your physical capability, you should also train your “mental muscles” to increase your mental capacity.
streamingBut how should you do that? How should you train your mental muscles to increase your mental capacity? I believe the answer is similar to the way you increase your physical capability in weight training.
