As the debate continues on who would become the APC governorship flag bearer in Lagos state, members of the State House of Assembly, have unanimously thrown their weight behind Babajide Sanwo-olu, one of the contenders for the ticket and the person rumored to have received the endorsement of the APC National leader, Bola Tinubu.

Chairman of the state House Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, made this known in a statement released yesterday Saturday September 29th. According to the statement, the decision was taken at a Parliamentary meeting of the lawmakers which took place at Lateef Jakande auditorium of the House. At the meeting which was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, 36 out of the 40 lawmakers were present and they unanimously endorsed the decision and duly signed the statement announcing the decision.

Few hours after she quit the All Progressives Congress, former minister of women affairs, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, also fondly known as Mama Taraba announced she has switched to United Democratic Party(UDP).  

She made the announcement on Twitter, where she earlier today announced her resignation both from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet and withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress.

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole said  the party’s governorship  primaries  for Imo and Lagos states have been postponed again.  

The elections which were scheduled for Sunday, have been moved till Monday, October 1st 2018. He said they were shifted for logistic reasons.

The two states are scheduled to hold direct primaries to select the governorship candidate of the party.  In Lagos, two aspirants, incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu are left in the race, after the third aspirant, Obafemi Hamzat withdrew for Sanwo-Olu.

Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu in his weekly coulmn, 'Pendulum' wrote about the just concluded Osun State governorship election saying what transpired 'was not a Gubernatorial, but prelude to Presidential election'

In the article, Dele Momodu also said, 'let me say with every emphasis I can muster, no candidate from the core North can compete against, and defeat, Buhari simply on the basis that they come from the core North. It is practically impossible'.

PDP governorship candidate in the Osun state rerun election, Ademola Adeleke, as described as a "coup'' the ongoing election in the state.

Speaking to Punch, Adeleke said PDP members in the state were being harrased. 
“What is happening in Osun State now is not an election.  What we have is a coup.  That is what we are witnessing now. Our supporters are being harassed and are not allowed to vote at all. Let the whole world know that this is not the democracy, ” he said

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that there will be consequences if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) succumbs to pressures from planted PDP Presidential Aspirants to move the party's National Convention away from Port Harcourt.

He further declared that the State will not support any desperate PDP Presidential Aspirant who is sabotaging the economy of the state by fighting the hosting of the party's Presidential Primary in Port Harcourt.

Governor Wike warned that Rivers People will teach the party a bitter lesson if it allows planted desperate Presidential Aspirants to scuttle the hosting of the Presidential Primary in Port Harcourt as agreed by all leaders of the party.

South Africa waives visas for many countries except Nigeria

The South African government says it has concluded plans to grant visa waiver agreements to some countries, allowing travelers from those countries to enter their country without a visa.

The South African Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, who announced this, gave a list of the countries, and Nigeria wasn't not included.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode  expressed his readiness to participate in Saturday’s Primary Election where members of the All Progressives Congress across the State are expected to choose the party’s flag bearer through direct primaries.
 
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kehinde Bamigbetan, the Governor said he is restating his readiness in line with the choice of the party in Lagos State and the validation given to the direct primary preference by the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).

Abraham Olujonwo Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has publicly declared his support and availability to work for the re-election bid of President Buhari despite the fact that his father is against it.

According to Festus Keyamo, Director of Strategic Communications, President Buhari Campaign Organisation, Obasanjo’s son wrote the campaign organisation on Wednesday to officially declare his support.

'After visiting my office a few days ago to pledge his support for PMB’s 2nd term bid, I just received a formal letter and a press statement from the son to ex-President Obasanjo to that effect' Keyamo said.

In the signed cover of the letter to Keyamo, Abraham Obasanjo wrote:'Dear Sir, please find attached a statement of my public declaration and support for the 2019 second term re-election bid of our highly esteemed President Buhari. I have taken a personal decision to release the statement and to notify you of my availability to work for the re-election of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari with sincerity and loyalty. Please accept my assurances of the highest regards.”

Osun rerun:  Iyiola Omisore agrees to work with APC

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has agreed to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun rerun election scheduled to hold today, Thursday September 27th.

Speaking at a press conference in Ile Ife this evening, Omisore said he decided to support the APC after the party accepted the conditions he gave earlier for his support. The SDP candidate had said he would only support any party (between PDP and APC) that agrees to uphold SDP’s core values.

The Special Assistant to Edo state governor on Media and Communication strategy, Crusoe Osagie, has released a statement over the trending photos of the governor, Godwin Obaseki, sleeping while President Buhari addressed the 73rd UN General Assembly yesterday September 25th.

According to Osagie, the governor was fatigued. To buttress his point, Osagie shared photos of other world leaders sleeping at world events. Read the statement below

INEC has released the official number of registered voters in the seven affected polling units where the governorship election re-rum will take place to eventually determine the winner of the election on Thursday.

According to the body, the 7-polling units have only 3498 registered voters and that's what the APC and PDP are battling for.

Already, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress(APC) party members have started house to-house- campaign to woo voters in the affected areas.

The attention of wife of the President, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has been drawn to some media publications and releases purporting illegal detention of her Aide De Camp (ADC) over allegations of fraud.
The story as it pertains to her ADC, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sani Baban-Inna has it that he has been detained on the orders of Her Excellency for dropping her name and defrauding unsuspecting officials and associates. She wishes to use this opportunity to refute such allegation and to state that she has no hand in his arrest and detention.
