#WhenHeStartNaaaa: Bello’s style crippling development in Kogi –PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State has faulted the leadership style of Governor Yahaya Bello, describing his recent policies as illegal and selfish.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Bode Ogunmola, who addressed journalists on Wednesday in Lokoja, said that what the state had been witnessing since the inauguration of Bello was a knee-jerk approach to governance, characterised by poor policy formulation.
The PDP advised Bello to consider the consequences of his polices before making them.
The party said, “It is worrisome that Bello does not possess the cognate experience in governance required to manage a diverse state like Kogi. His deliberate policy of excluding experienced persons from his cabinet is unacceptable.
“Bello has the right to determine and select those he wants to work with. We have no doubt about the immense potential of the youths in governance. But we are worried that reducing the governance of the state to an age-grade contest is not in the interest of the masses.”
Speaking on the recent dissolution of government agencies in the state by Bello, Ogunmola said the governor failed to follow due process.
He urged the state governor to familiarise himself with extant laws before taking decisions that would indict him.
According to him, some members of the government agencies sacked are statutory members.
The PDP’s spokesperson also accused Bello of refusing to pay the allowances of the political appointees that served under the immediate past government.
He said that Bello demonstrated his intolerance for those who held opposing political views when he made selective payment of the October 2015 salaries owed by the state.
He, therefore, demanded the immediate payment of the salaries of political appointees left out in the last payment exercise.
Reacting to the allegations, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Strategy, Abdulmalik Abdulkarim, said what the PDP described as policy reversal should be considered an act of magnanimity on the part of the governor.
According to him , contrary to the PDP’s allegation, the governor decided to have both the old and the young in his cabinet so that they could exchange ideas to achieve his lofty objectives for the state.
On the recent demolition of the roundabouts in Lokoja, he said the governor wanted to make the state more attractive.
Abdulkarim said Bello had initiated polices that would transform the state.
