IMAG0483Ruth, a female athlete from Kogi State University on Wednesday, 19th February fainted at the ongoing NUGA games at the Obafemi Awolowo University. Ruth was said to be on for a 400m (female) race for her varsity. She has from the start of the race been noted for not feeling too good for the race, which consequently led to her fall.
When asked by the medical officials of her breakfast, Ruth replied “Tea; tea and biscuit.” This they believed led to her lack of strength and loss of stamina. She was however given a first aid treatment.
Speaking with our correspondents, the Medical team head advised athletes to know their body system and so prepare well before any athletic game, so as to avert such occurrence. He also reiterated the team’s commitment to safeguarding lives in the ongoing games.
